Hope you are doing well.
This email includes an update on the following:
- Donor #2 (yay!)
- IDEO Partnership (global innovation experts)
- Mozilla Foundation (global learning network)
- Previous Updates
Donor #2: We confirmed our second donor last night. This law firm is a staple in central NJ and will potentially be hosting an apprenticeship for one of our scholars as well. More details on this collaboration in the next email update.
OpenIDEO: OpenIDEO is a social innovation platform with global connectivity which means we have the ability to work on the local community issues while at the same time contributing to the larger vision of global solutions. OpenIDEO is currently running a challenge sponsored by United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) which is asking the global population to collaborate on new design solutions to this question, “How might we reimagine the cost of college in the U.S. and how it’s paid for?”
- Being that Action Horizon is a solution to this problem, OpenIDEO has offered to support us with a variety of resources, thought leadership/advising, social innovation technology, scholar mentorship via video conferencing, and last but surely not least are the sponsorship of our meetups which began taking place in March 2015. I will update the Meetup page shortly.
If you are interested in working on Action Horizon and the challenge to provide more affordable high quality education to everyone, or if you have any feedback, or if you would like to get involved at any level please follow up with me.
Mozilla Foundation: As you know from my emails and if you have joined us on Wednesday evenings, one of the components of our program is a learning community. We aren’t the first to use this idea – there are currently learning communities in operation or soon to be popping up throughout the world. Mozilla Foundation manages a global network of Learning Clubs.
As part of our strategy to integrate with the thought leadership of the education innovation landscape and build integrity into our program I reached out to Mozilla to ask them if we could plug-in to their global network. I have been speaking with a representative at Mozilla Foundation these past three or four weeks – today, I received confirmation that we are being added to their global network as we speak.
If you would like to be involved in our learning community which is now apart of Mozilla Foundation’s Learning Club network please let me know!
Volunteer Projects: We are looking for opportunities for the scholars to be involved with local nonprofit organizations who are interested in having their stories told by one of our scholars. Please email me if you have an interest.
If you have any questions or comments please reach out to me. I appreciate your time, and I look forward to speaking with you soon about how we can work together.
